Do you think that your future would be brighter if you live with your family in the growing years of your life? Well, not necessarily. Have you ever given a thought to join a Boarding school? They are much more than just academics, restrictions, and sports. Attending a boarding school is mainly about overall growth and development. And after attending a boarding school myself, here are the top 5 reasons that I think will help you consider a boarding school over a day school.

1. IMPORTANCE OF FAMILY

Living away from family helps your bond with them grow and take a new shape. One appreciates and valuing the support, care, and affection that has been provided. Furthermore, the child cherishes the time and valuable moments spent together. And when the kid meets new people reflecting similar characteristics as the family, they feel even more connected to them.

2. INDEPENDENCY

Going to a boarding school and staying away from home is the hardest part for the child. This is where they learn how to survive through the struggle of getting through hard times. With people around, these ‘rough times’ turn into ‘fun times’. They learn about their mistakes and how to correct them themselves. Becoming independent in return boosts self-confidence and with no one to get pampered from, the kid learns to organize their own routine and become self-reliant.

3. UNDERSTANDING OTHERS

One meets people from around the world with different cultural backgrounds, different perceptions, and different mentality when they come to attend a boarding school. While interacting and living with various individuals, kids learn to not only understand their own perspective but understand others’ way of thinking. In return, they learn to deal with and adjust with new people.

4. RESPONSIBILITY

In a boarding school, they encourage students to schedule their work and maintain deadlines in order to cope up with the rigorous tasks assigned. Not just academically, but the child learns to take up daily responsibilities such as making your bed, organizing your stuff, pre-planning, etc. Therefore, taking charge of your own work helps you live off your comfort zone and become more active to complete the designated duties.

5. PREPARES FOR COLLEGE

Living in a boarding school is like living in a college. You live away from home and yet stay in a safe environment with few restrictions, unlike college. This gives parents a sense of relief and helps kids gain a better understanding of how college life is going to be. It helps students experience different cultures and learn to deal with people while they interact with students coming from different areas across the globe. This lays the foundation to easily adjust and manage their workload before even entering the corporate world.

In the end, if you are a parent and consider a boarding school for your kid, it won’t be easy at all to not see them every day in front of you, not know what they are up to at a particular time, and not take care of them the way you want to. But, seeing your kid become mature and surviving through difficulties, shall be worth it. And if you’re the kid, the rough times will become the dearest and sweetest memories for your entire life.
