Experiencing the medium glitch
Since the day medium has updated its algorithm, I have experienced a few errors on the medium page.
A couple of days back, I tried to open an article on the main medium page. Although I could pull up the article on the medium app on my iPad, I wasn’t able to pull it up on the medium website on my laptop. I tried to reload the page a few times and yet all I could see was ‘page not found’.
Similarly, today I tried opening my profile on medium. Again, all I could see was ‘Error 404 page not found’.
Being a young budding writer who has just started writing on medium, things like this sometimes can get really frustrating and demotivating.
Writing an article to get recognition requires you to understand how well other reputed writers organize their posts. You need to read and recognize the style, format, and tricks used by the writer. We can only do this by referring to and going through different stories from different writers.
Viewing your own profile and stats helps you understand your audience and what interests them. Appreciation from others encourages you to write more and give out the best you can to your readers.
If one experiences glitches like this, it becomes hard to write an article yourself, as there’s no understanding of how to put your thinking into words when there’s no basic knowledge of the entire process. This can be time-consuming and eventually lead the writer to give up. This not only affects the writing but also the confidence of the writer.
To sum things up, I have no grudge against medium. I love writing on medium and I shall continue it in the future. I just hope they fix this issue as soon as possible for a better user experience.
